Mi-young Song
Visual Artist

Born and raised in Korea, Mi-young Song received a BFA in sculpture in1989 from Hong-ik University, Seoul. After graduation, she exhibited several site-specific sculptures and installations, eventually winning second place in a competition sponsored by the Korean Central Daily News for her mixed-medium sculpture, Canopy Bed (1989). After relocating in 1991 to study computer graphics and photography in Seattle as well as mount her first U.S. show, Song attended Pratt Institute where she received an MFA in sculpture (1996) and an MS in art history (1999) with the thesis Video Projective Installation: History, Aspects and Impacts on Viewers. Her controversial interactive video installation, 'Shoot Me II: After You Shoot (2002)?í caught international media attentions including NY1 and Fox5 TV channels, Russian and Spanish TV channel: and New York Sun, New York Post, News Day and Grobe and Mail in Canada. She lives and works in New York.
